Gary Heavin and his wife Diane opened the first Curves in the United States in 1992. This new, 30-minute fitness concept combined strength training and sustained cardiovascular activity through safe and effective hydraulic resistance. The comfortable, supportive environment was designed for women and was immediately successful. Curves is the largest fitness franchise in the world with 10,000 locations worldwide. Curves Clubs can be found in over 42 countries, including the United States, Canada, Europe, South America, The Caribbean, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan, and we're still growing. We are the first fitness and weight loss facility dedicated to providing affordable, one-stop exercise and nutritional information for women. Curves for Women is a program that allows you to perform aerobic exercises and strength training exercises at the same time with what is called their “Quickfit Circuit.” They call themselves "30-Minute Fitness and Weight Loss Centers." The machines are very unusual. They are made by Quickfit and use hydraulic resistance.

I have always been what some people refer to as "well-endowed," but to be honest, I'm a bit more
endowed than I would like. When I first heard of Curves for Women I thought, wow, if only I could
cut down on my curves... the name appealed to me, and before I even learned anything else, I knew
that it was geared toward women only. I had to check it out. - Ammy

It's easy to get a coupon for a free week or a free trip or two. The staffs are friendly and love
the business. I've noticed a few instances where, for example, a mother brought her teenage
daughter, and the staff allowed the daughter to join her mother. I've seen women of all shapes,
sizes, and ages, and haven't heard many complaints. This may be just what you're looking for! - Monica

I've notice at least 3 Curves have opened for business in the Charlotte area and they are the 3rd
fastest growing franchise. I love and think if you need to lose weight, this is something anyone can do. - Adrian

I like the staff and I’ve gotten to know and like some of the other regulars who come in to
exercise at the same time I do. I’ve never had the problem of anyone “hogging” a machine or having
to follow someone who left a machine stinky and sweaty. - Adam

I feel comfortable working out at Curves, there's no fashion show or strength ability to live up
to. It's close to my house, and the fact that I can complete my workout within 30 minutes, makes me
go. The music is fun and makes you want to work out. The instructors at my facility are okay, nice
and knowledgeable. Curves get my heart rate up. - Jack
